I know it has been way over a month and way past due. But I wanted to say Thank You to Diane and Sheryl of Glitterfest 2009 which happened in May. It was a great festival full of old friends, meeting new artists I have admired from afar, and meeting new customers that became good friends. It has inspired me to step out of my safety zone and be open to new ideas and creativity. Diane and Sheryl deserve an award for their detailed, organized, professional and friendly ways. Diane and Sheryl, thank you so much for making me feel comfortable and giving me an opportunity to share my button jewelry, fairy jars and my other work at Glitterfest. I look forward to seeing you at Whimzy this summer and future "Glitter" events. Ta Ta for now.
You might have noticed recently that if you are involved in Glitterfest 2009 people, friends and colleagues are staring at you and your face.They seem alarmed or concerned.Close friends might have the nerve to say, “Is that a new makeup?”Or “You have something on your face.”Little do they know that our world will never be the same.Our cars, homes, clothes, family members, pets, hair and skin will always have an iridescent look which will never go away.A sort of sparkle; small but quite obvious.It is May 5, 2009.Glitter has appeared in many homes and studios in California and possibly other states and there seems to be no cure in sight.With just a touch on your face from a hand that has embraced a Glittered object that you are adorning it is unlikely Glitter will ever be eliminated.
What do we need to do during this outbreak?Is there a vaccine?Are there precautions to take?Are face masks helpful or latex gloves?Absolutely not.People need to accept the fact that Glitter is not going away. Even after May 16th Glitterfest.They need to either embrace Glitter, or get a mini-dustbuster for those times their glitter-friends visit.Glitter is not harmful, I repeat not harmful.In fact, glitter can uplift people’s spirits; can help those in need of waking up and getting out of the mundane, day after day lifestyle.Even though I’m at the beginning stages, it has already changed my life.
So, if you come across one of your Glitter-friends, don’t be afraid.But embrace your friend, because in reality whether you hug her or not, you will still be bringing small specks of Glitter back with you into your home and life.
Well....it's been awhile since I have written on my blog. Glitterfest 2009 is fast approaching and I thought I would introduce you to two girls that will be with me on May 16th. The first button fairy is Beatrice. She has a big heart, but is a no-nonsense kind of fairy that does not have time for any shenanigans. The second little gal is Phoebe. She is happy, carefree, and sweet. Who wouldn't be happy with a butterfly in your hair and wearing those shiny shoes!! They will eventually need homes. If interested, please contact me.
I went to the Jamestown Village Flea Market in Olde Town Tustin this past Sunday afternoon. Purchased some buttons and trinkets (I never have enough buttons!) I also met the girls at Whimzy!! The store is magical and the girls are great!! Even after hours on their feet and in the heat working at the flea market, they were full of energy. They are so excited about Glitterfest 2009 which makes me very excited to be a participant. Better get going on creating button fairies, bracelets and such.

I'm finishing up the jewelry that I have been working on for the Brea Spring Boutique at the Brea Community Center which is tomorrow. It never fails that as I am making the last bit of jewelry all these creative ideas pop in my head and I do not have time to create them!! I have been doing the Brea Spring Boutique for five years now. I am in the Community Hall, space 159. It's fun to see all the vendors, especially Bella Luna Arts who has a space right behind me. We are the entertainment for the Community Hall :) So if you want to stop by and look at some great jewelry, or just be entertained, come on by!! Hope to see you. LJS
